Informal technical meeting on the Local Communities and Indigenous Peoples Platform under the UNFCCC
In cooperation with the International Indigenous Peoples Forum on Climate Change (IIPFCC) and some other European Countries (Denmark, Finland, France, Luxemburg and Sweden), Belgium hosted an informal technical meeting on the Local Communities and Indigenous Peoples Platform under the UNFCCC on 27 and 28 February 2017 in Brussels.
The LCIP Platform was established at COP21 in Paris. At COP 22 in Marrakech, Parties agreed to pursue an incremental approach to develop the LCIP Platform with a view to ensuring its effective operationalization.
The objective of the informal technical meeting was to have an open and informal exchange under Chatham House Rules among representatives of Indigenous Peoples and Parties, and explore how the LCIP Platform (its purpose, structure and content) could look like.
